Faith Baptist Church is a growing church located in the river town of Washington, MO. In our community of 15,000, Faith had an average weekend worship attendance of 300 in early 2022 and welcomes new guests weekly. We are located in a county of 102,000, of which 52% claim to have no religious affiliation and only 22% are evangelical (according to the 2010 U.S. Census).
Faith exists to bring glory to God by making disciples who Gather, Grow, Serve, and Go. We operate within a Christ-led, pastor-guided, deacon-served, and congregation-affirmed church structure. We currently have two identical services consisting of a blend of traditional and contemporary worship. Our youth ministry currently meets for an hour on Sunday mornings and averages about 23 students. We look to promote approximately 30 students into the youth ministry in 2023. We are seeking a full-time Associate Pastor of Youth and Worship who meets or exceeds the position description.
Job Opportunity Description
Purpose:
- Encourage corporate and individual worship of God
- Encourage the church’s youth towards development into mature believers
Objectives:
- Provide support to the lead Pastor
- Actively lead the congregation in worship and develop the Worship Ministry
- Oversee the Youth Ministry (6th – 12th grade)
Responsibilities:
- Support Lead Pastor
- This position is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor
- Support the mission of the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ
- Support the vision of the church to Gather, Grow, Serve, and Go
- Assist in the overall ministry to the church family by performing duties and tasks as requested by the Lead Pastor (hospital visits, visiting families, support community engagement activities, etc)
- Mentor, teach, and develop current and future leaders
- Implement a clear disciple-making process for the youth and worship teams
- Lead Worship and Develop Worship Ministry
- Lead the congregation in biblically sound worship including worship set development
- Pastor and disciple the members of the worship and tech teams
- Identify, assimilate, and provide training for new members to the worship and tech teams
- Develop worship and leadership skills in others
- Communicate with the team throughout the week as needed
- Oversee Youth Ministry
- Seek to have mindful interactions and relationships with the youth and seek the development of their Christian character
- Organize youth ministry gatherings
- Support and encourage the leadership team and partner with families to better disciple youth
- Encourage youth to find meaningful service in the body of Christ
- Coordinate continuity of transitions for incoming and outgoing youth with Children’s Director and Associate Pastor of Discipleship
- Develop an outreach plan for youth who are non-believers or unchurched
Skills:
- Competently lead worship with voice and some form of instrument
- Work with team members with varying musical and technical expertise
- Delegate responsibilities and develop leadership in worship, tech, and youth
- Maintain healthy boundaries and practice time management
- Computer skills, including Office/Outlook and church management software (we use Planning Center Online)
Requirements:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to spiritual disciplines
- Qualified as an elder (1 Timothy 3:2-4; 1 Peter 5:2-3)
- Demonstrates a Sprit-led life, committed to discipleship and personal evangelism
- A call to gospel ministry (Matthew 4:19)
- In agreement with the following statements: Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 ; the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy; the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood; and the Nashville Statement on Biblical Sexuality
- Proven leadership ability and excellent communication skills
- Internally motivated
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Salary:
- Annual salary $40K-55K (based on education and experience)
